As part of an ever-expanding guiding service, I offer guide trips out of the Wellington City/Region to the multitude of waterways within the Hutt River, Otaki River and Ruamahanga River systems. Although based in Palmerston North, I regularly commute to Wellington for anglers wanting to fish from city with limited time available.

 

In the midst of one of New Zealand's most densely populated Cities, Wellington has a surprising array of fishing waters close at hand. Indeed Wellington is probably unique worldwide in having such quality brown trout fishing within and in such close proximity. It's major river system is the Hutt River & its tributaries. A spectacular trout fishery in its own right, with its prolific number and large size of brown trout that are easily sighted and can be free to rise to a dry fly.

 A typical day starts with pick up (generally 7-8am) allowing 7-8 hours of solid fishing time before drop-off (generally 6pm). Seldom will I ever turn down a good evening rise in which case the day will end a little later!

For those wishing to maximize their fishing experience and short stay in Wellington, we can organize helicopter fly-outs for the day. Wellington boasts a world-class back country fly fishing experience for large brown trout in stunning, crystal clear mountain rivers.

A full day includes guiding, 4WD vehicle transport pick-up/drop-of, wader/boot hire,
stream-side lunch, snacks and refreshments.

If you require wader and boot hire I stock a full size range of quality breathable waders and sturdy, supportive wading boots.
